Design Day: A Huge Success!

John Saladino and Clodagh delighted captive audiences on Thursday, June 11th, making SFDC’s Design Day a huge success. The day was filled with inspiration, education and excitement as hundreds of designers enjoyed two insightful keynotes, book signing parties at Sloan Miyasato and Duralee and the company of their peers.

Designer Catherine Grison said, “It was such a pleasure. I loved meeting new people and talking about healthy collaborations!”

Thank you to all who came out!

SFDC DESIGN DAY, THURSDAY, JUNE 11

We’re inviting designers to spend a shopping day at the SFDC beginning with a morning keynote by John Saladino and an afternoon keynote by Clodagh.

11 AM Keynote Presentation with John Saladino

John Saladino is one of the world's most distinguished and respected Architectural and Interior Designers. Often referred to the designers' designer, John Saladino's timeless work continues his philosophy of mixing "old with new" and appeals to both traditional and modern clients. His work is always layered with historical knowledge, whether implicit of explicit.

2 PM Keynote Presentation with Clodagh (followed with a book signing)

Clodagh is widely recognized as a design leader committed to the "green movement", creating stunning properties with materials that reflect her experiences and spirituality. In both public and private projects, she mixes the exotic and the familiar with a belief in the infinite possibilities of good design.

DESIGN ABOVE ALL: Hello Top Designers!

The San Francisco Design Center and top designers will transform four One Rincon Hill luxury high-rise condo residences into beautifully conceived and designed personal environments. The entire 53rd floor residences in San Francisco’s landmark residential tower will showcase the finest of home furnishings and accessories from the SFDC during its six-week run. The focus on the trend toward high-rise living in the SoMa district provides a unique twist to traditional decorator showhouses.

Western Interiors and Design, our national sponsor for Design Above All, has merged with Luxe Magazine and their April/May issue is their last edition. Luxe Magazine does not have a San Francisco presence and we are approaching Veranda, Dwell, Elle Décor and Metropolitan Home for a national sponsorship.

The judges for Design Above All deliberated long and hard and have selected the final four lead designers for Design Above All. They are:

Eugene Anthony, Eugene Anthony and Associates Ltd.
Leslie Bamburg, Lab Experiment
Donald Fugina, Donald Joseph
Mary Ann Schicketanz, Carver + Schicketanz

ODEGARD, INC. GRAND OPENING

On May 14th, Odegard celebrated its grand opening with flowing prosecco, delicious treats and, best of all, RugMark’s stunningly dramatic Faces of Freedom photo exhibit. The RugMark Foundation USA, a nonprofit dedicated to end exploitative child labor in the rug industry, made its West Coast debut of Faces of Freedom – a photography exhibition depicting illegal child labor in the handmade rug industry and RugMark’s innovative child-labor-free rug certification program designed to eradicate it.

"This exhibition is a poignant reminder of why we took an early stance against child labor in the rug industry. The photos and stories of children helped by RugMark’s educational programs should help connect our customers to the positive impact of their purchases," states Stephanie Odegard. "Not only is every Odegard carpet certified child-labor-free by RugMark, but also 1.75% from the sale of every carpet goes directly to the support of the organization’s programs," she adds.

The SFDC is proud to have Odegard, Inc. in the Showplace- definitely a reason to celebrate.
